Regular Tax Tips

Singapore companies generally need to file corporate income tax returns every year after incorporation. Family office investment companies, funds and other investment-focused entities also need to assess whether FATCA/CRS registration and annual filing apply. Here are some tips on corporate income tax and FATCA/CRS to help you keep track of key annual tax and compliance deadlines in Singapore.

Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI)

Singapore companies generally need to file ECI with IRAS within 3 months after each financial year end. Companies meeting specific conditions are exempt from filing ECI and do not need to apply to IRAS for the exemption. ECI is an estimate and does not replace the annual corporate income tax return.

Annual Corporate Income Tax Return

Singapore companies generally need to file Form C-S (Lite), Form C-S or Form C for the relevant Year of Assessment (YA). The filing deadline is currently 30 November of the year following the financial year end. Tax adjustments must be made based on the company's actual financial data.

FATCA/CRS Registration

Certain funds, VCCs, investment entities, trusts and other Singapore entities that meet the definition of a financial institution may need to complete FATCA and CRS entity classification, registration and annual filing. An entity that first becomes a Reporting Singaporean Financial Institution (Reporting SGFI) in a calendar year generally needs to register for CRS within the prescribed deadline in the following year. FATCA reporting financial institutions usually also need to obtain a GIIN (Global Intermediary Identification Number) from the US IRS and complete the relevant registration.

FATCA/CRS Annual Filing

A Reporting SGFI generally needs to file FATCA and CRS information for the previous calendar year by 31 May of the following year. Even if there are no reportable accounts for the year, a reporting financial institution usually still needs to submit a nil return.
